A Muslim’s View from the Middle Path of Islam

October 30, 2014 @ 7:30 p.m, First Parish, 50 Cochituate Road, Wayland. Speaker: Mary Johnson – Attorney, Educator and a Member of the Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center and the Boston Chapter of the Muslim American Society.

Join the Walden Forum for “A Sister’s Perspective: A Muslim’s View from the Middle Path of Islam”, a discussion with Mary Johnson, a Massachusetts attorney and educator who will speak about her experiences with the Muslim Community in New England.

Personally shocked at the misinformation circulating about Islam, Ms. Johnson seeks to share her view from within Islam, a religion of the Middle Path. She will discuss her background and how she was first exposed to Islam in the U.S., where a unique and diverse Muslim Community is discovering its identity. Recent events compel her to speak up as a voice for New England Muslims, who are forging a positive future for themselves despite recent world conflicts and the shadow they have cast on understanding Islam.

Join us as Ms. Johnson discusses what our local Muslim Communities are doing to guide their congregations towards a true understanding of Islam, untainted by political or violent rhetoric. Join in the conversation and bring your questions about the religion, its people and its practices.
