Where Are We Going in Space?

Dr. Jeffrey Hoffman, Professor of Aerospace Engineering in the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics at MIT and former NASA Astronaut, will address the Walden Forum on the following topic: reviewing the Hubble Space Telescope missions, the status of the International Space Station, and looking at the possibilities of commercial space flight.

Dr. Hoffman’s specialization and research interests have included human space flight operations, space flight technology, human-machine interactions, extravehicular activity and conducting laboratory research. In his talk, “Where Are We Going In Space?,” Dr. Hoffman says, “Human space flight in this country is at a critical junction. Commercial space flight is poised to assume a new and perhaps revolutionary role in our country’s space activities. I will discuss the current space policy situation and look ahead to what the future might bring.” He will also reflect on his time in space and what it was like to look back on spaceship Earth.
